My Health Journey

From time to time, I like to check in and let people know about my own health journey and where I am.  I feel it is a good tool as I can’t expect people to change their lives and work hard on their health and well-being if I don’t do the same for my own.  This last month has been really good for me.  Prior to the first of the year, I really wanted to get serious about eating better foods and exercising more.  One of the principles I teach is to add stuff in before you take away.  I have been trying to be diligent at adding in good whole food fruits and veggies.  I will say, there are tough days.  Just like some of you, there are days I want to eat bad food.  However, I am consciously making a effort to continue to choose better quality things all around.  I have to say that it makes me feel better.  I do notice I have more energy and less cravings.  Plus, I seem to be able to say “No” a lot easier.  Again, I still have days where I cheat, but when you’re striving for health, it’s a lot easier to add purity and sufficiency than to take away all the toxicity.

Exercising has been excellent as well.  I am really beginning to notice a difference in my fatigue level and strength and endurance increases with exercising.  Most of what I am doing currently is at the house.  We do have a little bit of equipment that I can use and I seem to be able to do more weight for more repetitions fairly consistently.  I am currently trying to do 3 days of high intensity resistance training, 2 days of high intensity interval training where I run at the track, and 1 day of aerobic running to keep all of my systems functioning optimally.  I feel like my clothes fit better, I don’t get tired as often, and while things are very crazy with working at 2 offices, being dad, being husband, and always trying to learn more, I am handling stress a little better.  I love to exercise as I really feel like it gives me a good escape to clear my head of all the craziness that is my life.  As well, I always make sure to take my Protandim daily as it helps decrease any of the extra free-radical production that comes with exercise. One of my big goals is to be able to get back down to a 20 min 5k.  I don’t feel I’m anywhere close to that yet, but I am working towards it and it’s exciting to see progress consistently.
